HISTORY

The story of Medrano begins more than a century ago, in a small town in Mexico, where my grandfather began working as a miner because it was one of the only sources of work available.

My father grew up accompanying my grandfather to the mines throughout his youth. Years later, we would grow up doing the same with him.

As a child, I never had a genuine interest in the mines themselves. But I was fascinated by what came from the earth. I loved searching for stones, always imagining which ones could become part of a necklace or a bracelet.

As time passed, my entire family became connected to the mining industry. Eventually, people began to associate the name Medrano with mining.

Today, more than a decade later, I find myself far from the mines, far from my family, and far from everything that once felt like home.

But here in New York, I am fulfilling a dream that has lived through generations.

I create pieces that carry my family's story — from the earth my grandfather worked, to the stones I searched for as a child, to the jewelry I make with my own hands today.
